IAS ki full form hai – Indian Administrative Services (Bhartiya Prashasanik Seva – भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा). India me IAS ki job ek high profile job maani jati hai. What is IAS?
Ye to hum aapko pahle hi bata chuke hai ki IAS ka matlab hai – Indian Administrative Service. UPSC ke behad muskil Civil Services Examination (CSE) ko clear karne ke baad ek saal kadi mehnat bhari training clear karke ek candidate IAS banta hai, jise IAS Officer kaha jaata hai. Jab officer IAS ke liye select ho jata hai to usse kyi diverse roles (jokhim) nibhane padte hai. Jaise Collector, Commissioner, Head of Public Sector Units, Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretary etc ki post se ho kar gujarna hota hai. IAS sirf ek lajawab experience aur Challenge hi nhi hai balki India ke Lakhon – Crodon (लाखों-करोड़ों) zindagi me positive changes laane ka jariya bhi hai. Isliye IAS ko ek unique aur behad maan-maryada wala career maana jaata hai.
History
British rule ke dauran Indian Civil Service 1858 and 1947 ke beech ke period me India me British Empire ke Higher Civil Services the. Vo civil services 2 categories me divide ho gayi –Covenanted and Uncovenanted. Covenanted civil service me government ki higher posts ke liye sirf white British civil servants ko hi rakha jaata tha. Aur Uncovenanted civil service puri tarah se administration ke lower rank par Indians ke entry ki facilitate ke liye start ki gayi thi. 1947 me India ke partition or British ke jaane ke time, Indian Civil Service new Dominions of India and Pakistan ke beech divide ho gaya. Jis part me India gaya vahan par Indian Administrative Service ka naam diya or jahan Pakistan vale gaye vahan Civil Service of Pakistan ka naam de diya gaya.
How To Become An IAS Officer?
IAS officer banane ke liye IAS exam clear karna padta hai, which is officially called as UPSC Civil Services Exam (UPSC CSE). Is exam ke 3 stages hote hai – (1) Prelims, (2) Mains aur (3)Interview. IAS ka competition easy to nahi hai but right attitude or approach vale candidate ke liye impossible bhi nahi hai.
UPSC Exam me select hone aur Interview process clear karne ke baad selected candidates ko ek saal ki Training liye LBSNAA (Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration), Mussoorie bheja jaata hai. Training complete karne ke baad ek IAS Officer apni first duty, Junior Time Scale grade se shuru karta hai.
Qualifications Required to Apply for IAS Exam
- Educational Qualifications
IAS ke exam appear hone se pahle kisi bhi candidate ko kisi Government Recognized University se minimum pass marks ke saath Graduation karni padti hai.
- Age Limit
- General : General category ka ek candidate minimum 21 Years and maximum 32 Years (21-32) ki age me IAS ki pariksha de sakta hai.
- OBC : Other Backward Class ke ek candidate ke liye maximum age limit 3 saal jyada hoti ha. Yani is category ka candidate 35 years ki age tak IAS exam de sakta hai.
- SC/ST : SC aur ST category ke candidates ke liye upper age limit 5 years extra hoti hai, matlab SC/ST category ke IAS aspirants 37 ki age tak UPSC exam de sakte hai.

For OBC category candidate = Nine (9)
For SC/ST category candidate : No limit till age of 37 years.

Civil Services Examination (CSE)
Government agency UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) IAS exam conduct karti hai aur isse judi har cheez ke liye responsible hoti hai. Is tarah Law and Order service ke liye right candidates ko select karti hai. Har saal 24 combined (24 alag-alag) services ke liye 1000 candidates ko select kiya jata hai. 2014 me IAS exam ke liye apply karne waale candidates ki sankhya around 9 lakh thi, jinme se 4-5 lakh candidates hi exam day me dikhayi dete hai.
Is exam ko world ke sabse toughest (muskil) exam me se ek maana jaata hai, kyuki is exam meLengthy Syllabus, Depth or Competition shamil hota hai. Exam ka first stage – Preliminary (Objective) – August me conducted kiya jata hai, aur second stage – Mains (written) hota hai – conducted around December. Jo candidate Pre + Mains exam ko clear kar leta hai vo April-May ke period me Interview (personality ke test) face karta hai. Aur is sabke baad final result June me aata hai.
How To Clear Civil Services Exam?
IAS exam ko clear karne ke liye, ye advise denge ki iske liye aapke paas Long Term Strategy ka hona bahut jaroori hai. Maximum serious candidates, exam date se pahle 9-12 months pahle se hi preparation start kar dete hai. Ye candidates kuch months ki dedicated study ke sath top ranks achieve kar lete hai.
